From our 4-star base in Enniscorthy we discover Ireland’s Ancient East which is a region of legends and stories from ancient times to now. We wander down the cobbled streets of medieval towns; visit the world’s oldest working lighthouse, explore a castle with gorgeous gardens and hopefully see dolphins! This tour has been a great hit the last two years!

Sunday We take the ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare and the short drive to our hotel in Enniscorthy.
Monday Onto the Hook Headland and we have a 45-minute guided tour of the World’s oldest operational lighthouse. Looking across the bay we can see the village of Crooke and may be able to see some dolphins! The lighthouse also has a café (not included). Then back to the 1840s with a guided tour of the Dunbrody Famine Ship with its insights and interpretations of the Irish emigrant experience.
Tuesday To Waterford which is said to be the oldest town in Ireland, and we have a tour of Waterford Crystal where glowing balls of molten crystal are blown in front of your eyes. The afternoon is free to explore the town where you can see 1,000 years of history in 100 steps!
Wednesday Huntington Castle was built in 1625 and is still in the same family! We have a guided tour by a family member of the castle and gardens with plenty of tales as we go. We then follow the Mount Leinster Heritage Trail through Fenagh and Bagenalstown to Kilkenny. Kilkenny, Ireland’s Medieval Capital. It has a mixture of rich cultural heritage, beautiful streetscapes, and great shopping to offer.
Thursday We have a take away breakfast from the hotel and catch the morning ferry back to Wales and home.
