Tours at Resort
A | No need for our coach today, as we make the most of our close proximity to the boat pier, located just 450m from our hotel, and, using our full day hop on/hop off ticket, enjoy a full day exploring Lake Achensee, the largest and deepest lake in the Tyrol. Possible stops include the upmarket resort of Pertisau where you may wish to embark on a scenic Karwendel cable car journey (not included) with amazing views over the lake.
B | We make the short journey to Jenbach and catch the morning Zillertalbahn Train to Mayrhofen (hopefully steam but not guaranteed). As we travel in style, we marvel at the peaks and the jagged rocks of the scenery. Upon arrival in Mayrhofen we enjoy free time for lunch in our stunning surroundings, framed by the majestic Zillertal Alps. We return to our hotel by coach later.
C | We begin our day with a visit the Tyrolean capital city of Innsbruck, surrounded by the jagged rock spires of the Nordkette mountain range. Visit the streets of the old town to discover some of the most important sights, including the Hofgarten, the ornate 15th century Golden Roof designed as a royal box for the Emperor, the Column of Saint Anne and the Triumphal Arch. We then travel to the magnificent Tratzberg Castle for a guided tour with audio guides where we learn more about the history of the castle, which is first mentioned in documents dating from the 13th century. After falling into ruin, it was rebuilt by the Fugger family and became a classic example of 16th century Tyrolean castles. Our visit here includes a road train journey to and from the car park up to the castle.
D | Today we make the short journey across the border into southern Germany and head to the beautiful Lake Tegernsee in the Bavarian Alps. We embark on a circular grand tour from Tegernsee, which takes us around the lake and we get off at Rottach-Egern. Here we enjoy free time for lunch here then re-join our boat for our return journey to Tegernsee where our coach awaits. Back on dry land, we spend a short time at leisure in Tegernsee, enjoying the lovely promenade, before departing back to the hotel.
Friday We return to the same hotel in Saarlouis.
Saturday To Calais and home.
