We depart and make our way toDover and the ferry to Calais. We then continueon to Dijon for our overnight with bed andbreakfast
Departing after breakfast we continueour journey to Tuscany arriving in Viareggiowhere a welcome glass of Prosecco awaits us onarrival and you have time to settle in beforedinner this evening.
Once a fishing village, Viareggio is nowa thriving resort with a long beachsidepromenade and shops, providing you withplenty to explore at your day at leisure.
Today we travel to La Spezia and enterthe wonderful and colourful world of Le CinqueTerre, the ‘Five Lands’. These quaint andincredibly scenic fishing villages can really onlybe visited by boat or train owing to their locationon the rugged coastline of the Mediterranean.Explore pretty Riomaggiore on foot, and then wetake the local train to Monterosso, a sumptuousvillage with plenty of opportunity to browse theshops and enjoy a seafood lunch before a localferry whisks us back along the coast affording ussuperb views of all five villages with theirmountainous backdrop.
After breakfast we make our way toPisa, best known for its leaning tower andremarkable cathedral with well maintainedRomanesque buildings as well as Renaissancepiazzas with a lively street life dominated bylocals rather than tourists. We have plenty oftime to explore before continuing to Luccawhich is one of the oldest cities in Tuscany.Home to a maze of narrow cobbled streets,beautiful churches and chapels.
Today we travel to Florence whereyou can discover Michelangelo’s world famoussculpture of David, the 15th century Duono diFirenze, the Uffizi Gallery and the MedievalPonte Vecchio and relive the romance of EMForster’s ‘A Room with a View’.
Today we visit the most fashionable andstylish resort of the Italian Riviera, SantaMargherita, with its attractive palm linedstreets. From here, we enjoy a relaxing boat ridealong the coast, around the headland and intothe chic and famous resort of Portofino. Laterwe return by coach to our hotel for dinner
Sadly after breakfast, it is time toreturn to our overnight in Dijon on a bed andbreakfast basis
We make our way back to the port andour ferry to Dover, then onwards to the WestCountry.
