Saturday
We depart from your local area in the morning for northern England and your overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast.
Sunday
We continue north through the LowlandHills past Glasgow to Stirling, Perth and Pitlochry,arriving late afternoon at Highlander Hotel,Newtonmore for the next 5 nights with dinner,bed and breakfast.
Monday to Thursday
During your stay in Newtonmore the followingexcursions are included:Grantown-on-Spey, Aviemore and Newtonmore– We make our way to Grantown-on-Spey, atraditional Highland town on the River Spey onthe northern edge of the Cairngorms NationalPark, a beautiful charming place with plenty tosee and do. We then make our way to Aviemorefor free time before we return to Newtonmorewhere the remainder of the day is yours toexplore. Maybe visit the Highland Folk Museumwhich is within walking distance of the hotel.Kyle of Lochalsh – We travel north into theHighland capital, Inverness. Here we join theScotrail train for one of the Great RailwayJourneys of the World – the line to Kyle ofLochalsh. The route takes us through some of thebest scenery in the country, skirting lochs andpassing remote villages. After a break in Kyle ofLochalsh we enjoy the return ride, this time byroad, back to the hotel.Fort William, Glenfinnan and Mallaig – Thisexcursion takes us south west along the shore ofLoch Laggan and through Glen Spean to FortWilliam. Here we have another train journey, thistime on the celebrated West Highland Line toMallaig. This spectacular line passes hiddenlochs and inlets, silver sands, and crosses themagnificent Glenfinnan viaduct on its way west.Mallaig is a major fishing port and we have timeto wander around the harbour and explorebefore we catch the train for the return journeyto Fort William and rejoin the coach for the rideback to Newtonmore.Loch Ness Cruise – Loch Ness is our destinationtoday. We travel through unspoilt scenery pastLoch Mhor and along Stratherrick to FortAugustus. Whilst here we have time to obtainlunch and we enjoy a cruise, with commentary,on Loch Ness on board ‘The Royal Scot’. Later weleave Fort Augustus and head north overlookingthe loch towards Inverness before heading backto Newtonmore.
Friday
We leave Newtonmore and the Highlandsto retrace our steps south towards NorthernEngland for our overnight stop with dinner, bedand breakfast.
Saturday.
After breakfast we leave and continue on our way home.
