We depart and make our way toCumbria and our hotel for the next 4 nights withdinner, bed and breakfast
Today we drive to Bowness, delightfullylocated on the shores of Lake Windermere wherewe have time to look around before we catch the‘steamer’ from Bowness Pier for a relaxing sailto the southern tip of the lake at Lakeside. Fromhere we visit the market town of Ulverston withthe afternoon free to explore the area before wereturn to the hotel
We begin with a drive to Sedbergh,where we take a short break before continuingacross Ravenstonedale Common to KirkbyStephen and Brough on the way to the formercounty town of Westmoreland, Appleby. This afternoonwe ride along the shore of Ullswater, said to bethe most beautiful lake of them all. We haltawhile in Glenridding before climbing over rugged Kirkstone Pass, with the lonely pub at thetop, and descend to Windermere to return to thehotel.
After a leisurely breakfast we departfor Kendal – ‘Gateway to the Lakes’ where wehave the day free to explore, enjoy lunch andperhaps some retail therapy before we return toGrange over Sands and our hotel.

Tucked away in the tranquil Lyth Valley close to
Bowness, the Damson Dene Hotel is a delightful
hotel superbly located as a base for our holiday.

and all bedrooms are en suite with TV, telephone,
hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities.
