We depart and make our way toYorkshire, arriving late afternoon at theCrown Hotel Harrogate for 4 nights withdinner, bed and breakfast
We start with a visit to the RoyalPump Rooms Museum to find out why CharlesDickens said that ‘Harrogate is the queerestplace with the strangest people in it, leadingthe oddest lives’. Then it’s on to Embsaywhere we take a return steam train throughpicturesque Yorkshire Dales scenery. Laterwe visit the town of Hawes, home to worldfamous Wensleydale cheese and we visit thefactory and watch some of the cheeses beingmade.
Our day begins with a drive toSkipton – ‘Gateway to the Dales’ with theattractive High Street leading up to thechurch, behind which you see the impressive900 year old castle and Skipton Woods. Wealso take a trip on the Skipton Canal with arib-tickling commentary by Dave Spikey withtea and biscuits included. Our final visit is toPateley Bridge where we visit the NidderdaleMuseum.
y We can explore Harrogate todaywith its huge open spaces and broad treelined boulevards, antique shops, shoppingmalls, elegant buildings, abundant greenery,flowers and plants, it is little wonder that thetown is a frequent winner of Britain in Bloomawards.
After breakfast we depart for home
