A pleasant drive through the Cheshire countryside takes us to Chester for the day. There is lots to see and do in this historic city. Explore the ‘Rows’ of two-tiered shops and perhaps do some shopping? You could stroll around the city walls or wander down to the river Dee for a relaxing pub lunch.
Today we travel around the Wirral coast via Hoylake with its famous golf courses and through the Mersey tunnel and into Liverpool. We spend the morning here and you have time to explore the city. The Albert Dock complex boasts many attractions including the Beatles’ Story. Liverpool has two cathedrals which dominate the skyline. We include a boat trip on the river Mersey. This afternoon it is off to Port Sunlight. We visit Sunlight Vision and enjoy a guided tour of Port Sunlight which was built by William Hesketh Lever for his factory workers and named after his famous Sunlight soap. Discover how the village was planned with his workers’ welfare uppermost and visit the gift shop.
Today takes us through lovely Welsh scenery including the spectacular Horseshoe Pass to the Dee valley. Here we join the Rheilfford Llangollen Railway for a journey on a nostalgic steam train and also take a ride on the "Stream in the Sky" - the Llangollen canal - gliding gently over the country’s biggest navigable viaduct
We begin our journey home after breakfast.
