• Visit to Alnwick and a visit to the delightfulAlnwick Gardens, described by theVictorians as the ‘Windsor of the North’.The Castle has recently featured in theHarry Potter films and Alnwick Gardenwas the inspiration of the Duchess ofNorthumberland.• Visit to the villages of Ford and Etal, a vastrural estate with Visitor Centre and theBlack Bull, Northumberland’s only thatchedroof pub.• Lady Waterford Hall, a ride on theHeatherslaw steam light railway and a visitto the Heatherslaw corn mill.• Berwick-upon-Tweed, with its Castles andTowers.• Our excursion takes us across thecauseway to Holy Island and the mysteriousLindisfarne Castle – visible in the distancefrom Bamburgh. NOTE: The crossing of thecauseway to Holy Island is governed by tidetimes. It may be necessary to amend thisexcursion.• Journey through beautiful countryside tothe capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury.• Magnificent Cragside House, now in thecare of the National Trust. Cragside was thefirst house to be lit by electricity – a wonderof the Victorian age.
