We depart and make our way north,arriving at the Blackwell Grange Hotel for thenext 4 nights with dinner, bed and breakfast

We begin with a drive to historicRichmond, high above the River Swale whereyou will find a castle, The Green HowardsMuseum and the Richmondshire Museum,which houses the ‘set’ from ‘All CreaturesGreat and Small’. Leaving Richmond, we headfor the ‘Wensleydale Railway’ for a nostalgicride through rural scenery from Leyburnto Leeming Bar where we rejoin the coach.Afterwards, we head to Thirsk, home ofJames Herriot, and the opportunuty to take inthe acclaimed World of James Herriot Centreand explore before we return to the hotel

Our first visit today is to PrestonPark and Hall Museum where the attractiveparkland surrounds the museum. Here youwill find a delightful collection of memorabiliafrom times gone by. At Preston Hall, we jointhe ‘Teesside Princess’ and take a gentlecruise on the River Tees through beautifulcountryside to the cobbled town of Yarm. Inthe afternoon, we drive through Bilsdale -“Little Switzerland”, past the Sun Inn, whichhas had the same landlord for 200 years!We then pass Rievaulx Abbey, and drop intoHelmsley with its 12th century castle. Onour way back to the hotel we drive over thespectacular Sutton Bank, giving you fantasticviews of the moors and the Vale of York

We travel over the moors, acrossBlakey Ridge, through picturesque Huttonle-Hole to Pickering, where we join the NorthYorkshire Moors Railway for a steam trainjourney through rugged moorland to Whitby,passing through Goathland – ‘Aidensfield’ inTV’s ‘Heartbeat’. Whitby is a maritime town,bursting with character and unique. Wanderthe alleyways and narrow streets and climbthe steps up to Whitby Abbey

After breakfast we depart for home.
