We depart and make our way to the northeastand arriving late afternoon at Manor House Hotel.A welcome drink awaits on arrival and we enjoy 4 nights stay with dinner, bed and breakfast.

Today's outing takes us north into Northumberlandand the Kielder Forest Park. Here we enjoy a boattrip around Kielder Water before our return takingus through Bellingham and the North TyneValley, continuing south into County Durhamand to the hotel.

This morning we travel to the ancient and historic city of Durham, acclaimed as a WorldHeritage Site and dominated by the magnificentNorman cathedral and castle, high above theRiver Wear. We can explore the city withits labyrinth of little streets and alleyways, or youmay fancy a stroll by the river. During the afternoon we leave Durham and return to the hotel.

Leaving after breakfast we begin our day with a drive to the market town of Barnard Castle.Known as 'Barny' to the locals. You can seewhere Dickens immortalised 'DothboysHall'. We then visit Bowes Museum, just outside the town. It is a majestic French-stylechateau, opened in 1892 and will amaze you with itssuperb collection including the amazing and beautiful Silver Swan which will majestically swoop down to collect the silver fish, a feat ofmechanical engineering and a sheer delight towatch,.

After breakfast we depart for home.

The Manor House Hotel

The Manor House Hotel and Country Club,

West Auckland, is a 14th century manor

house in its own grounds in the village of

West Auckland. Once a hunting lodge for

Henry VII, the house is steeped in history.

All the comfortable bedrooms are en suite

and have colour TV, telephone, hairdryer

and tea/coffee making facilities. Relax in the

Beehive Bar with its magnificent fireplace

and original beehive oven. The hotel has its

own health club with indoor swimming pool.

The hotel does not have a lift.
