We depart and make our way to ourhotel in East Anglia where we enjoy the next 4nights with dinner bed and breakfast with tea/coffee and biscuits served on arrival.
This morning we discover the idyllicvillages on our tour of Constable Country,including the birthplace of the famous painter atEast Bergholt, an unspoilt village with many fineold houses and cottages. We also visit the churchat Dedham, with its 131ft tower, and the littlehamlet of Flatford Mill and later we go to the‘Essex Sunshine Coast’ with bustling Clacton-onSeaand the more relaxed Walton-on-the-Naze,returning later to the hotel
This morning we visit historic BurySt. Edmunds, famous for its Abbey Gardens andthe Angel Hotel, where Dickens had Mrs Pickwickstay. We have time to explore the town andobtain lunch and from here we head for thepretty villages of Cavendish and Clare, with theirpastel coloured cottages. We take a break inLavenham, one of our best preserved medievalvillages with its many colourful and halftimbered houses and later return to the hotel.
Today takes us to the notorious Essex Smuggler’s Coast where we start with a visit toMersea Island and West Mersea to obtain lunch.Our final halt is in Burnham-on-Crouch wherefrom here to Maldon’s Hythe Quay manysmugglers tales abound
After breakfast we leave and begin ourhomeward journey.
