We depart for the journey to Devonto arrive in Torquay in the early afternoon forthe next 4 nights dinner, bed and breakfast.After settling in to the hotel the rest of the dayis free to enjoy the local area.
We drive to Paignton and board thesteam train bound for Kingswear. Here we crossthe Dart Estuary to the attractive port ofDartmouth. Many period dramas and films havebeen shot around the town’s old quays andnarrow streets. After some free time here weboard a river cruise for the journey up thebeautiful Dart Valley as far as the market townof Totnes. We then return to Torquay by coach.

Today we head for the wild expansesof Dartmoor passing the market town ofMoretonhampstead and Princetown, home tothe infamous Dartmoor Prison. Finally we arriveat the maritime city of Plymouth where the restof the day is free for sightseeing. You can visitthe striking Plymouth Hoe where Sir Francis Drake played bowls before defeating theSpanish Armada or wander around theElizabethan Barbican from where the PilgrimFathers set sail for America. Alternatively, themodern shopping centre is well worth a visit
Our brief visit to Devon is over too soonas we make our way along the coast to Dawlishand then to the historic city of Exeter for a visit.Departing in the afternoon we then travel home.
