We depart and make our way to EastAnglia arriving late afternoon at our hotel forthe next 4 nights stay with dinner bed andbreakfast with tea/coffee and biscuits will beserved on arrival.
After a leisurely morning we drive tothe north of Colchester and visit Green IslandGardens. This is a superbly designed garden withfantastic borders, water gardens, Seasidegarden, Japanese garden, gravel and extensivewoodland features all with unusual plants,?owers and shrubs. The tea room being an idealplace to end your visit.
Today we visit the village ofRettendon, near Chelmsford where we visit theRoyal Horticultural Society garden at Hyde Hall.This 360 acre estate blends into the surroundingfarmlands and is a garden to be enjoyed by all.
We make our way to historicColchester the oldest town in England whichboasts a wide “boulevard” as a main street, withmany interesting pedestrian shopping malls andlanes with specialist shops. At one end of thestreet is beautiful Castle Park, complete with thelargest Norman Keep ever constructed withriverside walks and pleasant gardens and thereis also the opportunity to obtain lunch. Thisafternoon we head for the Beth Chatto Gardenswhich were developed in the 1960’s from anovergrown wasteland and is now an informalgarden harmonising perfectly with thesurroundings.
After breakfast we leave and head forhome.

few miles from Colchester and facilities include
