A leisurely drive across southernEngland to arrive in Eastbourne where we spendthe next 6 nights with dinner bed and breakfast.Time to settle in before dinner.

Today we travel along the coast toBrighton, famous for its Regency Palace and thelabyrinth of antiques shops in the Lanes. Therewill be plenty of time to discover Brighton beforewe travel on in the afternoon to historic Lewes.Dominated by its Norman Castle, the history ofLewes can be discovered in its medieval streets.The return journey to Eastbourne will take usacross the magnificent South Downs.

Enjoy a day at leisure to sample thedelights of Eastbourne.

Enjoy a scenic drive through theSussex countryside to the stylish spa town ofRoyal Tunbridge Wells. There will be time towander through the elegant Georgian streetsand have lunch before we set off in theafternoon for Hever Castle (entrance included),a romantic 13th century moated castle.

We are on the history trail todayfollowing in the footsteps of William theConqueror. First stop is Battle Abbey on the siteof the famous encounter with Harold in 1066. This afternoon’s visit is Rye, the lovely town wasone of the original Cinque Ports but due tosilting over the centuries, now finds itself inlandfrom the sea.

We travel inland to board the BluebellRailway for the steam journey as far as SheffieldPark and the magnificent Capability Brownlandscaped gardens

Homeward bound our route takes usalong the South Coast via Chichester and overSalisbury Plain for an early evening arrival.
