We depart and make our way toCumbria, arriving late afternoon at our hotel forthe next 4 nights stay with dinner, bed andbreakfast.
Today we travel through lovelycountryside with the Pennine Hills on our leftand the Eden Valley to the right as we head tothe market town of Penrith where today ismarket day and you have the opportunity tobrowse the stalls. Later we visit Alston where weenjoy a ride on the South Tynedale Railwaybefore returning to the hotel.
Our frst stop today is in nearbyBrampton where it is market day. We thencontinue on to Carlisle where the cathedral wasfounded in 1122 and is one of the smallest in thecountry. The Lanes shopping centre is at theheart of the pedestrianised city centre and youwill have plenty of time to explore and obtainlunch.
Today we head for Longtown anddrive along Liddesdale as we make our way topicturesque Kielder Water and Forest Park. Wetake a break at the visitor centre beforecontinuing to Bellingham and Hexhamdominated by the Abbey which overlooks thetown square. Later we return along the path ofHadrian’s Wall to our hotel.
After breakfast we depart and head forhome.
