Gold Cup Day. The Pinnacle of Jump Racing at Cheltenham Festival. Unmissable for racegoers worldwide.
This is a must have date for the diary as Owners, Trainers, Jockeys and their counterpart equines complete for one the most sought after titles in racing in the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup. The final day of The Festival presented by Magners promises the ultimate experience for all as the crowds rejoice for elite sporting champions and victory celebrations continue into the evening with top-class entertainment.
The Festival produces an atmosphere that is unique. The roar of the crowd as the tapes rise for the first race on Tuesday signals the moment when the 12 month wait is over and Jump racing's favourite fixture is back. The combination of the huge crowds, the amazing setting and the sense that you are watching history being made produces a sporting cocktail like no other. Prior to racing, enjoy the entertainment in and around the Tented Village, Parade Ring, Arena and Courage Pavilion with 70 trade stands, bands, interviews and the Parade of Champions.
The 2018 Cheltenham Timico Gold Cup was won by Native River. Native River and Might Bite, the 4-1 favourite, were the first two throughout and it was the former who proved stronger from the last fence to prevail by four and a half lengths. The pair were a further four lengths clear of 33-1 chance Anibale Fly in third.
