We depart and make our way toHertfordshire arriving late afternoon at our hotelfor the next 4 nights with dinner, bed andbreakfast, tea/coffee and biscuits are served onarrival.
.Friday We begin with a drive to Newmarket the‘Home of Horseracing’. Here we visit theNational Heritage Centre and learn all about thehistory of ‘The Sport of Kings’. Later we continueto the historic City of Ely where we have time toexplore. Ely is an ideal destination for allinterests and tastes, with a splendid array ofmedieval buildings and narrow streets. Ely’smain attraction is the magnificent cathedral,known as ‘The Ship of the Fens’.
After a leisurely breakfast we travelsouth to visit the Roman City of St Albans. At thecity’s historic core you will find the magnificentcathedral – dating back to 1077. Today is marketday in St Albans. The market is steeped inhistory and dates back to the 9th century. Firmlyestablished in the city centre the market runs thelength of St Peters Street and offers an excellentshopping experience as well as the popular HighStreet names.
This morning we journey through thebeautiful landscapes of Bedfordshire andCambridgeshire including the chocolate boxvillages of Old Warden and Ickwell. Stopping offin the market town of St Neots, we journey toCambridge where we are met by our guide for atour around the city taking in the highlights ofCambridge’s College buildings and more.
After breakfast we depart for home.

near Stevenage. It is an ideal base for the attractions featured
