We depart and make our way to Plymouthfor the Brittany Ferries crossing to Roscoff wherewe will enjoy overnight on board with cabin only
We disembark in Roscoff and make ourway to Brest which has a large naval history andis home to the National Marine Museum and is avery impressive port. After some time here wecontinue to our hotel for the next 4 nights withdinner, bed and breakfast.
Today is at leisure in Concarneau. You caneither take the land train (extra) or simplywander along the beach to the beautiful walledtown that sits on a long island in the centre ofthe harbour.
This morning we make our way to theseaside resort of Benodet, from where weembark on a circular river cruise lasting just overtwo hours, along the beautiful Odet river, “themost beautiful river in France”. Our journey willtake us past wooded landscapes, numerouscastles, manor houses and forgotten creeks andour guided commentary will tell us all about theattractions along the route. Later we make ourway to Quimper, the cultural heart of Brittany.
This morning we will visit the pretty‘village of artists’, an historic port townPont-Aven. Watermills along the banks of theRiver Aven provide a scenic backdrop to the townthat is also famous as an artists’ retreat and forthe invention in 1920 of galettes (butterbiscuits). Later we continue on to Quimperléwhere we will explore the picturesque medievalcentre and the Abbey of Sainte-Croix.
After a leisurely breakfast and morningwe make our way back to the port for our daysailing to Plymouth where we are scheduled toarrive at 21:30. We then make our way back tothe West Country. Please note this will be a latearrival home.
