Wings And Wheels

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Peterborough and the hotel for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 We have included the following excursions:

• Start today with a visit to the impressive Shuttleworth Collection of aircraft and vehicles at Old Warden Aerodrome near Biggleswade. The collection opened to the public in 1963 and contains airworthy vintage aircraft, veteran vehicles, classic motorcycles, veteran bicycles and agricultural exhibits. Adjacent to the aerodrome that houses the collection is the Swiss Garden which recreates landscapes in a picturesque alpine style. Peaceful and tranquil, the garden is a delight to explore, featuring 13 listed structures, a woodland sculpture trail and a resident peacock.

• You will travel to the famous Silverstone Race Circuit and its new attraction, The Silverstone Experience. The exhibition features state of the art interactive displays telling the fascinating stories of human endeavour, great sporting rivalries and engineering innovation. From here you will head to Market Harborough, a historic market town, nestled away in picturesque, rural, south Leicestershire, featured in the 2018 edition of the Sunday Times Best Places to Live. You have time for a short stop before heading back to the hotel.

• First stop is historic Stamford for a short break with chance to look around the town. Later you will travel on to Melton Mowbray. Melton is home of the famous pork pies and is also well known for its cheeses, Stilton and Red Leicester. Sample the local delicacies, enjoy lunch and relax before heading to Oakham, county town of Rutland, England’s smallest county. Time to look around and explore the lovely little shops and boutiques.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
