West Yorkshire's Calderdale Valley
5 Day - Tour Number - AW2025
Our bargain break is based in Halifax, Calderdale’s largest town with stunning Victorian architecture and a strong industrial heritage based on textiles, chocolate and finance.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey north and to the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 A free day to visit the Piece Hall in Halifax, a unique Grade 1 listed building dating back to 1779, originally built to support the trading of ‘pieces’ of cloth and now a new heritage and cultural destination. Home to one of the most striking piazzas in Europe, the stunning hall hosts independent shops, cafes, galleries and much more. The Piece Hall is the only surviving intact cloth hall in the UK and an iconic symbol of the important role played by Georgian Halifax at the booming centre of the world’s woollen trade.
Day 3 Today you will travel to Leeds and the Royal Armouries Museum with time to walk round the exhibitions before transferring to Lotherton Hall where you can view galleries with exhibits of Fine Art, Costumes and Textiles. The Hall is surrounded by a formal Edwardian garden and a bird garden containing over 200 different species.
Day 4 Leaving the hotel for a short drive to Shibden Hall where the BBC filmed the ‘Gentleman Jack’ series. The hall dates from 1420 and has displays of industrial crafts and offers a fascinating journey through the lives of the people who lived and worked there. Plus there are the restored gardens with boating lake and miniature railway. Returning to the hotel via a scenic drive round the southern part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
