Itinerary
Itinerary
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Norfolk and on to King’s Lynn for a four night stay.
Days 2 to 4 Enjoy a free morning to explore King’s Lynn, one of England’s most important cities from the 13th century, and today it is proud of its maritime heritage, with many listed buildings, museums and medieval merchants’ homes along its cobbled streets beside the atmospheric quays on the River Great Ouse. In the afternoon you will travel to Hunstanton where you will enjoy a 30 minute coastal cruise with views of the cliffs, lighthouse and Old Hunstanton. We have also included the following excursions:
A visit to the enchanting Gooderstone Water Gardens, and what could be nicer than to stroll through an enchanting six-acre garden, with its thirteen numbered bridges to help you find your way as they cross the waterways, four ponds and a natural trout stream. Hopefully spot a kingfisher and enjoy a delicious home-made cake. You will spend the afternoon in Downham Market, on the banks of the River Great Ouse dating back to Saxon times. It is one of Norfolk’s oldest market towns and has an unusual and majestic black and white clock to admire.
- A visit to Houghton Hall and Gardens. One of the most captivating features of Houghton Hall is its splendid State Rooms, meticulously designed to showcase the opulence and refinement of the Georgian era. The rooms served as the backdrop for lavish gatherings, political meetings and royal receptions, reflecting the prestige and influence of the Walpole family. Afterwards you will visit Bircham Windmill, standing in the heart of Norfolk’s undulating fields and looks as it did over 100 years ago. Visit the tea rooms or the bakery where you could have a bread baking experience (additional cost).
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
