Itinerary

St Mary's Guildhall, Coventry by Amanda - Flickr

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Charlecote near Stratford- upon-Avon in Warwickshire for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 We have included the following excursions:

  • Start the day with a journey from Broadway to Cheltenham on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, travelling through stunning countryside. On arrival in Cheltenham, you will have time to explore this spa town which dates to the discovery of mineral springs in 1716. After lunch you will travel through the Cotswolds and visit the pretty village of Stow-on-the-Wold known for its honey-coloured stone cottages, charming tearooms, lively market square and rich history.

  • A short distance from the hotel is Charlecote Park, an attractive stately home. In the past was a family home that was once visited by Elizabeth 1. You can visit some of the rooms on the ground floor, and you will find that the outbuildings have some of the fascinating features of the house. Afterwards you will visit Warwick, famous for its magnificent castle. There is a museum, plenty of buildings from almost every era in history, Victorian gardens and tearooms.

  • A visit to Coventry and their best tourist attraction – St Mary’s Guildhall. Step into history, with a rich past of power, politics and parties. St Mary’s acted as the centre of power in England during the War of the Roses. You will enjoy a 45-minute guided tour with 15 minutes to explore alone before visiting the Tales of Tea restaurant for an included cream tea. This will be followed by a guided tour for one hour of Coventry Cathedral and learn the history of the city’s third cathedral. There will be time to enjoy some free time before returning to the hotel.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
