Itinerary Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Dover and the crossing to Calais. Continuing onto Valkenburg and the hotel for a four night stay.Day 2 Today travel to Dusseldorf, a city known for its fashion industry and art scene. It is divided by the River Rhine, with its Altstadt (Old Town) on the east bank and modern areas to the west. Visit St Lambertus Church and Schlossturm, the Castle Tower, both date back to the 13th century and streets such as Konigsallee and Schadowstrasse are lined with boutique shops and the Christmas Markets.
Day 3 Today’s tour is to Maastricht, one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The city is a living and breathing outdoor museum and one of the first centres of the Dutch Industrial Revolution. Perhaps have a look round the Christmas Market and pick up some ideas for next Christmas. Returning to the hotel to prepare for the evening celebrations. Watch the fabulous firework display across the town from the front of the hotel and don’t forget after celebrating the Dutch New Year there is the British one an hour later!!
Day 4 HAPPY NEW YEAR Spend the day in Valkenburg to chill and be wrapped in the post-Christmas spirit. Enjoy the many festive lights above and underground. The town is an amazing setting for the markets and to enhance your day we have included a visit to the Municipal Cave, the largest underground Christmas market in Europe, and at Christmas time the endless
maze has been transformed into an extensive market.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
