Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Dover and the ferry crossing to Calais and on to Valkenburg for a three night stay.

Day 2 Today you will travel into Germany to Duisburg, known as the longest unique Christmas market in the country for its lengthy duration. Festively decorated fir trees and all kinds of light installations transform Duisburg's sprawling city centre into an atmospheric, glittering sea of lights. In the glow, more than 100 festively decorated wooden huts offer festive gifts, traditional arts, crafts, original gifts and Christmas decorations. With the scent of cinnamon, aniseed and griddle cakes in the air, there is also delicious food, music, and entertainment. Within walking distance of the city, you will find the inner-city jewel, the harbour. There are various bistros, cafes, and restaurants, and you will also find impressive museums in old, converted warehouses.

Day 3 Valkenburg at leisure. An amazing setting for the Christmas market, as it is held inside several of the town’s caves. You can marvel at the largest crib in Europe and enjoy the festive decorations above ground at Santa’s village. NB: Entrance is included for the Municipal Caves only.

Day 4 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey. Back to top
