Day 1 Early morning departure for Dover and the crossing to France and on to the overnight stop in Dijon or similar. (Bed and breakfast).

Day 2 Continue the journey south and into Italy to Diano Marina for a four night stay.

Day 3 Day at leisure in Diano Marina

Day 4 A ride through parks, palm-lined promenades and elegant shopping streets of San Remo, the main town on the Riveira of Flowers. Then you have free time to explore and obtain lunch before travelling inland to Dolceacqua a charming village nestled in the hills of Val Nervia. To end the day, make a stop stop in Isolabona, a typical Ligurian mountain village perched on a hill and enclosed by fortified walls with old stone houses featuring tiny windows, for a tasting of local Ligurian snacks accompanied by wine.

Day 5 A guided tour of the stylish principality of Monaco, a sovereign state that has been ruled by the Grimaldi family for more than seven centuries. Famous for being the sophisticated playground of the rich and famous and renowned for its famous casino, exquisite gardens and hosting of the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

Day 6 After breakfast, depart the hotel and travel to Rapello where you will take a return cruise to Portafino. Once a tiny fishing village, now the Italian Riviera’s most exclusive resort. The harbour is filled with the yachts of the rich and famous and its pedestrianised streets are lined with stylish restaurants and chic designer boutiques. Not to be missed is a walk up to St. George’s church and on to the lighthouse, from which there are some fabulous views. Later head to the Adriatic Sea and to Cattolica for a four night stay.

Day 7 Free morning in Cattolica. Afternoon visit to the city of Cervia which is only 5 metres above sea level and lies between the Adriatic shore and an intricate web of salt channels and has a long tradition of producing salt. Enjoy the soft golden beaches, take a walk in the old town and soak up the atmosphere or pick up some special souvenirs.

Day 8 Nestled between the vast plains of the Po Valley and the rolling hills of the Apennines is the young and lively city of Bologna, capital of the Emilia-Romagna region. Rich in history and characterized by the red roofs and bricks of its medieval centre and the majestic Piazza Maggiore with the Basilica of San Petronio. The city is also famous for its traditional and rich cuisine, which offers world-renowned specialties such as tortellini, lasagna, and mortadella.

Day 9 Today journey to the capital of Umbria, Perugia. A modern city situated on a hill in the Tiber valley. Time to explore its first-rate museums, beautiful natural surroundings, and traditional food, wine, and craftsmanship, particularly chocolate. We have included a chocolate tasting at Cafe Turan in Perugia where you will receive an introduction to cocoa cultivation and chocolate production with a guided chocolate tasting.

Day 10 Time to leave Cattolica and travel to your overnight stop in Rivoli.

Day 11 Sadly it is time to return home and commence the journey to the overnight stop in Dijon or similar. (Bed and breakfast).

Day 12 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
