At the beginning of October, on its famous nut-fair "Nessmoort", Vianden sells the nuts gathered under the numerous nut-trees of the neighbouring slopes.

Trier by Berthold WernerDay 1 Early departure to Dover for the crossing to Calais and travelling on through the Ardennes to Luxembourg for a five night stay.
Day 2 A day to Luxembourg City. Stroll through the Petrusse Gorge or the old town and see the remains of one of the most imposing fortresses in Europe. Visit the Casernates underground tunnels, see the Ducal Palace or sit back and relax at many of the bars and cafes.
Day 3 A short drive to the Roman town of Trier, which is the main city on the Moselle Valley and the oldest city in Germany. See the Porta Nigra Gates and the ruins of the amphitheatre and baths. After some free time you will travel into the charming region of ‘Little Switzerland’. Stopping in Echternach for a visit where you can see one of the largest Roman Villas along with the Benedictine Abbey. Returning by way of Beaufort and Larochette back to the hotel.
Day 4 A day at leisure in Vianden to enjoy the Nut Market and entertainment. stroll through the picturesque streets of the town and look at all the stands, guided by the bittersweet flavour of nuts until you find the perfect local product for you. Why not stop to taste the celebrated 'Veiner Nossdröpp', a walnut liqueur sold - and sampled - at the market, or the excellent walnut eau-de-vie that makes a great digestive.
Day 5 Breakfast, then commence the homeward journey.
