Barcelona www.freepik.com - bearfotosDay 1 Early morning departure for the journey to Dover and the sea crossing to Calais. On arrival travel to the Dijon area for an overnight stop. (bed & breakfast only).

Day 2 Continue the journey through France to the town of Montpellier for another overnight stop.

Day 3 Leaving France you will enter Spain and discover the two biggest cities north of Barcelona. Girona is a medieval city with one of the best-preserved Jewish Quarters in Europe. Here you will experience history in the small streets of the old city centre. Then travel to Figueres, with its unique Dali Theatre Museum. This museum holds the biggest collection of artworks, representing the artistic evolution of Salvador Dali, from his first artistic experiments to his surreal creations. Afterwards travel to the hotel in Lloret De Mar for a four night stay.

Day 4 Today you will see the Catalan lifestyle, visiting intimate seaside villages located on one of the world’s most famous Costas – The Costa Brava. You will discover Spain’s most iconic culinary dish, paella, which you will enjoy with a glass of sangria.

Day 5 A visit and tour of the vibrant and eclectic city of Barcelona, known for its amazing architecture. Barcelona’s Gothic churches, wrought-iron balconies and wide, grand avenues filled with cafes. To round off the experience of the tour you will take a taster of vermouth by the beach at La Barceloneta.

Day 6 Today discover Barcelona’s surrounding countryside and enjoy the local wine region. Visit Montserrat, home to the 16th century Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, Catalonia’s holiest site. You will then travel to the cava wine hills, the Penedès wine region for a taste of traditional Spanish cava wine.

Day 7 This morning you will depart the hotel and return to France, stopping at Marseille to visit France’s second largest city. Marseille is often touted as the new Barcelona, as both cities share the same glistening Mediterranean shores. The city has a rich sense of itself – this is, after all, where La Marseillaise, the French national anthem originated from. You will then travel to the hotel in Nice for a two night stay. (bed andbreakfast only).

Day 8 Enjoy a tour of two pearls of the French Riviera. Nice, where you can immerse yourself in the glorious splendour of the city and Cannes, home to the famous Film Festival, where you can stroll around the town centre and soak up the sophisticated cosmopolitan atmosphere. You will then have time to appreciate the true scent of luxury on a visit to a perfumery. (bed and breakfast only).

Day 9 Time to leave Nice and travel to the Dijon area for an overnight stop. (bed and breakfast only).

Day 10 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.

NB: The full day excursions are both on the coach and walking. For instance, the Girona and Figures excursion will involve about 2 hours walking. To reach Montserrat the coach drop off point is at the foot of the hill.
Please be aware that this tour will involve lots of walking and may not be suitable for passengers with mobility difficulties
