Itinerary

Day 1 Early departure to Dover for the ferry crossing to Calais. Travelling through the Somme and Picardy to reach the Dijon area for the overnight stop (dinner not included).

Day 2 Continuing south with the Pyrenees in sight, you cross the border into Spain and then continue the short distance to your hotel in Roses for a stay of seven nights.

Days 3 to 8 At leisure in Roses – the hotel offers evening entertainment on some nights during your stay. Enjoy one day at leisure to explore and we have also included the following excursions to enhance your stay:-

  • Today you will board a boat and follow the rugged coastline to Cadaques, a fashionable white washed resort situated on the Cap de Creus peninsula. This rocky coast is fringed with beautiful beaches and quiet coves. Cadaques has a historic quarter to explore where you can get lost in its labyrinth of streets. The highest point of the old town is where the church of Santa Maria de Cadaques is located. From here you will have a beautiful panoramic view of the village, the bay, Des Cucurucuc and even the small lighthouse of Cala Nans. Cadaques was once the holiday destination for Salvador Dali during his youth.

  • Travel by way of San Pescador, L’Escala an important fishing port dedicated to its famous anchovies, past Torroella de Montgri to the resort of L’Estartit. L’Estartit is famous for its crystal clear water, stunning natural beauty with views over the bay to the Medes Islands, and surrounded by interesting landscapes and protected countryside. Stroll around the village, the fishing harbour and the Passeig del Molinet seafront promenade.

  • Day tour to La Bisbal d’Emporda, a lovely old town and one of the leading pottery centres in Catalonia, the shopping area focuses on marketing all the different pottery products. Free time to explore the history, heritage and ceramics. In the afternoon you will travel to the excellently restored pretty medieval inland village of Pais.

  • Excursion to Tossa de Mar, a medieval masterpiece majestically sat on Catalonia’s Gironacoast. The walled town offers stunning views of the surrounding coast and the town centre is a bustling area with market stalls, friendly bars and restaurants. You will then travel to Lloret de Mar where you will be taken for a wine tasting before returning to the hotel.

Day 9 Depart the hotel after breakfast, and retrace your steps to the overnight stop near Dijon (dinner not included).
