Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to the county of Shropshire and the hotel in Shifnal for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 We have included the following excursions:

  • A visit to Boscobel House and Royal Oak, originally a timber-framed farmhouse that was converted into a hunting lodge. It became a secret place for sheltering Catholics in time of need. Stroll around the house, and make sure you walk to the Royal Oak and visit the Victorian farmyard and gardens. You will then travel to Much Wenlock, the town that inspired the modern Olympic Games and is a quintessentially English town off the beaten track.

  • A leisurely day in the stunning town of Shrewsbury, one of England’s finest medieval towns. This morning we have included a 45 minute cruise on the River Severn before a light lunch at the Orchard Café, set in the beautiful surroundings of the famous Cathedral, overlooking the town walls. Free time afterwards to visit one of the museums, shops or take a wander around the beautiful Quarry Park and discover the garden created by Percy Thrower before returning to the hotel.

  • Morning visit to Hodnet Hall Gardens with over 60 acres of brilliantly coloured flowers, sweeping lawns and a chain of ornamental pools, which provides a natural habitat for waterfowl and other wildlife. In the afternoon you will travel to the British Ironworks Centre, with 60 acres of land to explore including a sculpture park, shopping, ice cream parlour and café and we have included a cream tea for you to enjoy.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
