Itinerary

Lazise Church San Nicolo - marcor78 freepik Day 1 Early morning departure to Dover for the crossing to Calais and on to Forbach for an overnight stop. (or similar).

Day 2 Continuing the journey through Austria and into Italy to Riva for a five night stay.

Day 3 Today is spent at leisure. You can enjoy a stroll between Riva and Torbole on the flat lakeside path, which is about 3 kilometres and will take you approx. 40 minutes to walk one way. Spend some time in the beautiful old piazza of one of these towns surrounded by cafes and bars overlooking the lake. Alternatively, take a relaxing return boat trip to the picture postcard village of Limone sul Garda and enjoy the scenery along the way or visit one of the other lakeside towns.

Day 4 This morning you will visit the ancient town of Malcesine. Its maze of cobbled streets sit on the edge of the blue waters of the lake, in the shadow of breath-taking Monte Baldo, the largest mountain in the Lake Garda region. A cable car can be taken to the summit for spectacular views across the lake and the Dolomites. The old port is lined with cafes, restaurants, boutique stores and gelato eateries so you can enjoy a stop at an outdoor café with a lake view. In the afternoon you will travel by way of the scenic lakeside road to the pretty walled town of Lazise, with its paved lakefront promenade and fine sandy beach. Lazise also has a wonderful old town centre, with narrow alleyways, picturesque squares and harbour. The 12th century church of San Nicolo is known for its frescoes, while Scaliger Castle can be admired from the outside, though cannot be visited as it is privately owned.

Day 5 Today you travel north to the dramatic Dolomites and enjoy a scenic tour of this outstanding area. You will travel over the pass at Madonna di Campiglio where you can marvel at the spectacular views of the Brenta peaks before visiting the charming and pretty Lake Molveno.

Day 6 A day excursion to the world-famous city of Verona, the romantic capital of Europe and one of Italy’s oldest cities. Situated on the banks of the River Adige and perhaps best known for its association with Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, it boasts a rich array of art and architecture. Its heart is dominated by a mammoth, remarkably well- preserved 1st century Roman amphitheatre, the venue for the city’s annual summer opera festival. Piazza Bra is the largest piazza in Verona, lined with numerous cafes and restaurants for a relaxing pitstop. Verona is a shoppers’ paradise, too, with something for everyone – from the daily market in Piazza delle Erbe, where there are plenty of bargains to snap up and a great selection of local produce, to the stylish designer shops on Via Mazzini.

Day 7 Time to depart from this lovely setting and travel through Austria and back into France for your overnight stop.

Day 8 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey. Back to top
