Itinerary
Itinerary
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Staffordshire and to Festival Park and the hotel for a four night stay.Day 2 You will start the day with a drive to the city of Lichfield. There is much to see and do, particularly the stunning Lichfield Cathedral, set in a remarkable serene close and well worth a visit. Time to explore and have lunch before travelling to the National Memorial Arboretum. With over 400 memorials nestled amongst 25,000 trees and riverside walks, it is a place of joy and thoughtfulness where the lives of people are remembered.
Day 3 This morning you will visit Little Moreton Hall. A Tudor Manor House, the hall is surrounded by a moat and set in a manicured knot garden and has had a chequered history. In the afternoon you will visit Rudyard Lake where you will enjoy a 3 mile return ride on the miniature railway alongside the lake.
Day 4 Today a visit to the award-winning Trentham Gardens. The new look gardens have matured so wander round the Italian Gardens, Rivers of Grass or the Floral Labyrinth. Enjoy the shopping village, with shops, cafes and the vast Trentham Garden Centre. Free time to explore and obtain lunch before heading for Blyth Bridge and the Foxfield Light Railway. Originally used to carry coal from Foxfield Colliery, closed in 1965, the line is now very popular for steam trips into the countryside.
