Southport, Lancaster Canal & The Blackpool Illuminations

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Southport, arriving late afternoon.

Days 2 to 4 Free day in Southport to explore the many attractions, including the restored 19th century iron pier, Botanic Gardens and the town’s famous Lord Street with its tree-lined Victorian boulevard, home to elegant arcades, cafes and shops.

We have included the following excursions:

• Travel to Barton Grange Garden Centre for some free time before joining Kingfisher Cruises for a scenic cruise on the picturesque Lancaster Canal. Passing charming villages, lush landscapes and tranquil waters as you enjoy an included afternoon tea.

• After a leisurely breakfast, journey to Blackpool to enjoy all the wonderful facilities on offer to the holiday maker and see the famous Illuminations. Stretching almost six miles along Blackpool Promenade with the brightest light displays you can imagine. The coach will depart at 8pm to return to the hotel. Traditionally the theme for the lights is kept secret, but you can be sure of a wonderful display that stretches five miles along the sea front. Blackpool offers something for everyone - Discos and the Pleasure Beach for the young, right up to dancing in the Tower Ballroom for the young at heart. Come and be entertained in true Lancashire fashion.

NB: We do not include a tour of the lights due to the volume of traffic and the time it takes so we suggest that you take the tram to see the illuminations.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
