Calstock Viaduct by Nick Lansley - FlickrDay 1 Morning departure west to Devon and to the hotel in Plymouth for a four night stay.
Days 2 to 4 Enjoy a free day exploring the vibrant waterfront city of Plymouth, packed full of attractions, shopping and sightseeing. We have included the following excursions:
This day tour will take you on a relaxing train ride through the picturesque Tamar Valley from Plymouth to Gunnislake, passing through rolling countryside. The highlight is the Calstock Viaduct with views of the valley and the river 120 feet below. Re-join the coach at Gunnislake and travel to Tavistock, home of the cream tea. Free time to visit the wide range of craft shops, art galleries and museums. Return to the hotel across the open moorlands of the Dartmoor National Park.
- An excursion to the rugged Bodmin Moor with a stop at Jamaica Inn with its Daphne Du Maurier associations and a museum filled with smuggling artefacts collected over many years. From here you will travel to Tintagel with its dramatic castle ruins and then onto the pretty harbour at Port Isaac, the setting for TV’s Doc Martin. NB. There is no coach access to Port Isaac, so you will be dropped on the main road for you to take a 300m walk downhill into the village centre.
