South Devon, Dartmouth

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey west and to Dartmouth for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 We have included the following excursions:

• You will travel to Bygones. Journey back in time with three floors of award-winning nostalgia. After lunch head to Dartmouth for a circular cruise, sailing on the lower part of the River Dart.

• Today you will head to Yelverton and the Garden House. The house and gardens that form The Garden House was brought in the 1940s by Lionel and Katharine Fortescue. Over the next 40 years the Fortescue’s created a garden which was – and continues to be – viewed as one of the finest in Britain. In the afternoon you will make a visit to Tavistock. An ancient stannary town and home of the cream tea, Tavistock is the only town in Devon to hold world heritage status. The vibrancy and uniqueness of Tavistock is undeniable with a range of beautiful local independent shops which are quite different from today's typical high street, and do not miss the famous pannier market.

• You will travel to pretty Brixham on the southern end of Torbay, where you will have time to take a stroll along the harbour or take refreshments in one of the many cafés. Then travel to Buckfast Abbey, perched in the shadow of Dartmoor and surrounded by a beautiful, wooded valley and the River Dart. At the heart of this working monastery is the Abbey Church and the grounds are home to a bookshop, gift shop and Monastic shop.
