The Black Country has been defined as ‘the area where the coal seam comes to the surface’ and this tour gives you an insight into the heritage, culture and stories of times past.
PLEASE NOTE: Price is per person and based on two people sharing a twin/double room. Single room supplements and upgrades are not included.
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Telford and the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today visit Blists Hill Victorian Town Museum. It’s a living recreation of a 19th century town re-enacting life from the early 1700s to the Victorian era. Complete the day with a visit to Ironbridge to view the first cast-iron bridge and explore the town.
Day 3 Today's tour takes you to Kidderminster to board the steam train for a 16 mile scenic journey on the Severn Valley Railway, through stunning countryside to Bridgnorth. Free time on arrival before travelling back to the hotel by coach.
Day 4 Today travel to Shrewsbury with its town centre packed with timber-framed black and white buildings. There are over 600 listed buildings including the Castle, now a regimental museum and the world-famous Shrewsbury Abbey, home of the fictional Brother Cadfael. Perhaps visit the beautiful Quarry Park, sit and watch the world go by while enjoying a drink by the river, or relax on a river boat trip from Victoria Quay.
Day 5 Breakfast, then commence the homeward journey.
