Itinerary
ItineraryDay 1 Morning departure for the journey north to Drymen and the hotel for a three night stay.
Day 2 The day begins with a scenic tour of lovely Loch Lomond, in the heart of The Trossachs National Park, surrounded by charming villages, beautiful countryside and rolling hills. You have time to pause in the picture-postcard village of Luss before continuing your travels to Inveraray Castle and Gardens, the ancestral seat of the Chief of Clan Campbell and one of Scotland’s finest stately homes. There’s plenty to see over the three floors, including the Clan Room, which offers an insight into the fascinating history of Clan Campbell.
Day 3 This morning you will enjoy a relaxing cruise on Loch Katrine. Departing from the Trossachs pier, sit back and admire the beauty of the area, taking in views of Ben Venue Mountain, Ellen’s Isle and Queen Victoria’s loch-side Royal Cottage. This afternoon you head to the small town of Callander where you free time. Known as the ‘Gateway to the Highlands’, Callander serves as the eastern gateway to the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, so the scenery is magnificent.
Day 4 Depart Drymen and travel through the stunning Glen Coe to Fort William, Spean Bridge and to Kyle of Lochalsh to cross the bridge to the Isle of Skye for a three night stay.
Day 5 Today you will travel to the northwest corner of Skye to visit the famous Dunvegan Castle and Gardens. Built on a rocky outcrop on the shores of Loch Dunvegan, it is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. After the visit, you will be taken on a scenic drive around the northern Trotternish Peninsula and Duntulm, before returning to the hotel.
Day 6 This morning you will travel to the far south of the island where you will visit Armadale on the Sleat peninsula which offers views to Eigg and Rhum to the west. Time for lunch before retracing your steps and travelling to Portree, the capital of Skye. Free time to explore this village which is only about 200 years old and was created as a fishing village at the beginning of the 19th century by the then Lord MacDonald.
Day 7 Time to leave Skye and make the journey south to the border and your overnight stop.
Day 8 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
