Itinerary
LavenhamDay 1 Morning departure for the journey to Suffolk and to the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 A morning visit to Christchurch Mansion, the home of the largest collection of paintings by Constable and Gainsborough outside London. Time to explore the period rooms and Tudor kitchen. Afterwards you will visit Framlingham where its 12th century castle dominates in the market town. We have included a visit to the castle and walk the rampart giving spectacular view of town and countryside.
NB: The gravel in the ground floor areas within the castle walls is loose. There is access to first floor via platform lift. Steep spiral stairs to upper floors and wall walk.
Day 3 Today you will enjoy a tour along the picturesque Suffolk coast, starting with a visit to Southwold, complete with its famous painted beach huts and lovely pier, before continuing to Aldeburgh, which retains features from a bygone era. Time for lunch before travelling to Waldringfield for a 2 hour cruise with tea/coffee and scone along the River Deben, one of the most beautiful and scenic spots on the east coast.
Day 4 This morning you will enjoy a half day guided tour of Constable Country, which will take you through Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the area where John Constable lived and created most of his paintings. You will visit the chocolate-box village of Lavenham, and Sudbury, birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey

A comfortable hotel conveniently located 15 minutes by coach from the town centre. All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, telephone, hairdryer, WiFi, iron/ironing board and tea/coffee making facilities. Bar, restaurant, lounge area, garden terrace, swimming pool, steam room, hot tub, Jacuzzi and sauna.
NB: The hotel does not have a lift, however there are plenty of ground floor rooms with 4 steps to the rooms.
