Itinerary

LavenhamDay 1 Morning departure for the journey east to Colchester and the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 Today you will enjoy a tour along the picturesque Suffolk coast, starting with a visit to Southwold, complete with its famous painted beach huts and lovely pier, before continuing to Aldeburgh, which retains features from a bygone era. Time for lunch before travelling to Waldringfield for a 2 hour cruise with tea/coffee and scone along the River Deben, one of the most beautiful and scenic spots on the east coast

Day 3 A morning in Bury St Edmunds to explore. Make sure you visit Abbey Gardens, a fantastic area that presents a fascinating combination of history and horticulture for you to stroll through including the Abbey ruins. Find out about the town’s role in the Magna Carta story of Saint Edmund and where a French Tudor queen rests. In the afternoon you will visit Fullers Mill, an enchanting and tranquil seven-acre creation on the banks of the River Lark. It combines a beautiful site of light dappled woodland with a plantsman’s’ collection of unusual shrubs, perennials, lilies and marginal plants.

Day 4 The excursion today will take you to three of the prettiest villages in Suffolk. First to Lavenham to visit the Guildhall, a Tudor building in the heart of this medieval village. Then Clare, Suffolk’s smallest medieval wool town with a rich history, and finally to Sudbury in the Stour Valley with a history in the weaving and silk industries.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
