Day 1 Morning departure to Grantham and the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 A visit to Stamford, a town of immense charm with over 600 listed buildings of mellow limestone, and five medieval churches. It is also used as a filming location. In the afternoon a visit to Burghley House, one of the largest and grandest houses of the Elizabethan age.

Day 3 Today travel to RAF Scampton, home to the Red Arrows and formally the base of 617 Squadron, the ‘Dambusters’. Visit the Heritage Centre that tells the remarkable story of Squadron Leader Guy Gibson and an opportunity to sit in a replica Red Arrow Hawk aircraft. Then travel on to Lincoln for a short visit before returning to the hotel.

Day 4 Today visit Barnsdale Gardens, with the UK’s largest collection of individually designed gardens and created by the much-loved BBC ‘Gardeners’ World’ presenter – Geoff Hamilton. Later we have a cruise on Rutland Water, one of the largest man-made lakes in Europe before visiting the pretty, traditional town of Oakham.

Day 5 Breakfast, then commence the homeward journey. Note: Visit to RAF Scampton requires photo id and the visit is subject to the security status at the time.
