Itinerary

Skipton CanalDay 1 Morning departure to Yorkshire and to the hotel for a four night stay.

Day 2 Travel to Masham, for a tour and tasting at the Black Sheep Brewery, only established in 1992, but already a brewing legend. This afternoon you will take a ride on the Wensleydale Railway, through unspoilt countryside between Leyburn and Leeming Bar. Finally visit the traditional market town of Thirsk, home to the famous vet and author James Herriot.

Day 3 Today you will board a train for a short single journey from Bolton Abbey to Embsay. Afterwards travel to Skipton for some free time to explore some of the historical treasure the town has to offer. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is your destination for a visit to the beautiful village of Grassington before returning by way of Pateley Bridge to the hotel.

Day 4 All aboard for a wonderful train ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway through miles of beautiful national parkland scenery between Pickering and Grosmont. Then explore Whitby, a picturesque harbour town, with its famous clifftop abbey. The journey back is broken by a stop in Goathland, used as “Aidensfield” in the TV series ‘Heartbeat’.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey. Back to top
