Itinerary
LavenhamDay 1 Morning departure to Colchester and the hotel for a four night stay.Day 2 An excursion to the ‘chocolate box village’ of Lavenham with its beautiful half-timbered buildings, stunning Guildhall and crooked houses. In the afternoon you will visit Gainsborough’s House, birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough, dating around 1500 with many interesting features, garden and collection of his work.
Day 3 This morning visit the breath-taking gardens created by Beth Chatto, who has won more than ten Chelsea Flower Show gold medals. The gardens emerged from an overgrown wasteland of brambles, gravel and boggy ditches. During the gardener’s tour, enjoy an in- depth insight into the history and philosophy of Beth’s gardens. In the afternoon you will visit Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country for free time to explore.
Day 4 A half day ‘step on’ guided tour of Constable Country which will include a trip to East Bergholt, Flatford Mill and Dedham Vale. In the afternoon travel to Ipswich and enjoy a one hour river trip from Orwell Quay.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.

The hotel is ideally located just four miles from Colchester - Britain’s oldest recorded town All bedrooms are en-suite with TV, telephone, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries, safe and tea/coffee making facilities.
