Ness GardensDay 1 Morning departure for the journey to Chester and the hotel close to the city centre for a five night stay.
Days 2 to 5 We have included the following excursions:
A short journey to the centre of Chester for a guided tour by coach before having the rest of the day to explore this medieval city.
You will travel to the RHS Garden Bridgewater in Salford, RHS’s fifth public display garden, which opened in May 2021. The former site of Worsley New Hall has been transformed into an iconic RHS Garden. Tom Stuart-Smith and the team have brought ‘gardens within a garden’ to life by blending history with world-class horticulture. Plenty of time to explore some of the following created areas: - The Welcome Building, Worsley Welcome Garden, Kitchen Garden, Moon Bridge Water and more.
Travel to Northwich and to the Anderton Boat Lift, where you will board a boat and enjoy a brilliant commentary of the history of the river and the Anderton Lift (NB: subject to works being complete). The lift has earned its nickname of Cathedral of the Canals and was designed to lift boats and barges 50 feet from the River Weaver Navigation to the Trent and Mersey Canal. After the boat ride you can visit the coffee shop or the visitor centre. Then onto Dunham Massey, a 17th century house, home to an extensive collection that spans throughout its history and stunning gardens. Time to explore the house and gardens and follow this with refreshments in the beautiful surroundings of the Stables restaurant.
- A short day to Ness Gardens. Explore the gardens spread across 64 acres with stunning views of the River Dee and North Wales. You will see a diverse variety of plants and planting areas which are constantly changing including vibrant year-round colour and outstanding collections of rhododendrons, camellias and sorbus.
Day 6 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
