Hartland Abbey

Morwellham QuayDay 1 Morning departure to North Devon and to Bideford for a four night stay.

Day 2 Today travel to the resort of Bude with free time to explore and enjoy lunch before visiting Hartland Abbey, cherished home of the Stucley family and full of treasure and memorabilia. Enjoy the beautiful walled and woodland gardens, the extensive parkland and an included cream tea before returning to the hotel.

Day 3 A visit to Marwood Hill Gardens, a stunning private garden featuring 20-acres of tended landscape, numerous lakes and a quaint tea room. A wonderful haven to relax and enjoy the impressive collections of plants, shrubs and trees and experience the views. In the afternoon you will travel north to Woody Bay Station for a two mile round trip on the Lynton & Barnstaple Narrow Gauge Railway. The journey will take approx. 25 minutes with views over wild moorland and the rugged coastline. NB: Marwood is not suited for people with mobility issues, as wood chip paths around the gardens are hilly.

Day 4 Today you will travel to Morwellham Quay, a historic copper ore port, village and copper mine just outside Tavistock bordering the River Tamar. Explore its working museum to relive its Victorian heyday. After you will travel return to Bideford, and for those that want to visit the town. The coach will return late afternoon and return you to the hotel.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
