Itinerary

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Bedfordshire and to Pages Park where you will board the Leighton Buzzard Railway for a return journey on one of the last survivors of the 2 foot gauge light railways built in Britain for industrial use. Afterwards you will continue to the hotel in Bedford for a four night stay.

Day 2 A visit to Jordans Mill and Gardens where you will step back in time in the historic flour mill, home to the Jordan family for over 150 years, and see first-hand how flour was once produced here. Time to explore the lovely Mill Gardens where vegetables and fruits are grown in an ornamental setting alongside wild flowers and plants. Afterwards you will travel to Stockwood Discovery Centre with beautiful gardens, award-winning display of carriages, exhibitions, extensive local collections and a café. Time to wander round this centre before travelling to Dunstable, on the edge of the beautiful Chiltern Hills, the oldest charter town in Bedfordshire and rich in heritage.

Day 3 Today visit Old Warden and the Shuttleworth Collection, a museum founded in 1928 with a variety of vintage aircraft, most of which still fly. Next door you will find the Swiss Garden in a picturesque alpine style. In the afternoon you will head to Wrest Park, a grand French chateau in miniature, with stunning lawns, wooded walks and flower gardens.

Day 4 A day at leisure in Bedford, where you can visit the John Bunyan Museum or take a stroll along the riverside to Russell Park and visit the café and herbaceous gardens.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
