Day 1 Morning departure to Bridgnorth, once one of the busiest river ports in Europe. The river divides the town into High Town and Low Town, the two being linked by seven sets of ancient donkey steps and a Victorian funicular. Then continuing on to Ludlow and the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 A day at leisure in Ludlow. Plenty for you to explore with the market, castle and shops just a short walk from the hotel.
Day 3 Heading north to Craven Arm for a visit to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, set in 30 acres of meadow land. Then continuing the journey through Church Stretton, known as ‘Little Switzerland’ to historic Shrewsbury, a town packed with timber-framed black and white buildings, steep narrow streets and alleyways. Charles Darwin was born and educated here and you will find reminders of his association with the town.
Day 4 Today enjoy a scenic drive through some of the beautiful “Black and White” villages to arrive at Hereford on the banks of the River Wye, full of local history and historic architecture. A visit to the 13th century Mappa Mundi at Hereford Cathedral is a must.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
