Itinerary
Day 1 Early morning departure for Dover and the ferry crossing to Calais and on to our overnight stop. (bed & breakfast only).Day 2 Continuing south, you will cross the border into Italy and to Diano Marina for a seven night stay.
Days 3 to 8 During your stay in Diano Marina you will have two free days to wander around the harbour area and the town. We have included the following excursions: -
- Day tour to the Menton Lemon Festival - 300 professionals and 145 tonnes of citrus fruit is involved in the making of the Menton Lemon Festival. It is one of the largest and most colourful events on the south coast of France. Elaborate floats and imaginative sculptures, in dazzling shades of orange and yellow, are paraded along the Promenade de Soleil with a carnival spirit.
- Day tour to Nice for the carnival parade. Each year there is a different theme (not known at the time of print), with spectacular and creative parades, comprising of themed floats along with traditional papier-mâché figurines, decked in dazzling colours with plenty of street theatre and over 1,000 musicians and dancers from across the globe to keep you entertained.
- A short day to Alassio, now one of the most elegant resorts on the Riviera, surrounded by trees and plants, splendid villas on the lower hillside and four kilometres of the finest sandy beach.
- Half day to San Remo. For 300 years, San Remo has attracted the aristocracy to its palm-fringed shores. Regarded as a key social centre at the end of the 19th century, Italy’s answer to Monte Carlo boasts palatial villas and all the opulence you would expect from the Riviera.
Day 10 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
