House And Gardens Of Lincolnshire

• First a short visit to the small town of Oakham before travelling to Rutland Water reservoir for a relaxing cruise, and see Rutland’s most famous landmark, Normanton Church. Then to Barnsdale Gardens. The many individual gardens include a wonderful variety of designs, plant species and horticultural techniques for you to explore.

• A visit to Doddington Hall, an Elizabethan mansion and still a lived-in much loved family home, alive with history and interest. Time to learn of the history of the Hall and Gardens and to visit the shops and the cafes at your leisure. You will return to the hotel by way of Sleaford, a charming town nestled in the heart of Lincolnshire. It is a hidden gem full of rich history, eclectic shops and attractive marketplace.
  NB: No lift or stairlift at Doddington Hall and the visit is over 3 floors. There are 64 stairs each way and chairs to rest on each landing.

• A visit to Gainsborough Old Hall and discover the medieval kitchen, the magnificent Great Hall , views from the top of the tower and the all- important café in the 15th century parlour. Afterwards you have time to explore the town and perhaps visit the water’s edge of the River Trent and see the Pilgrim Woman, visit the Old Nick Police Museum or the Heritage Centre.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
