Heart Of North Devon

Day 1 Morning departure for the journey into Devon and to Barnstaple for a four night stay.

Days 2 to 4 A free day to explore the town and spend some quality time to relax at hotel. We have included the following excursions:

• A visit to Clovelly, once a busy fishing port and today it is a world- famous village nestled against a steep hillside, which has preserved a bygone way of life. You can follow the main traffic free cobbled streets as it tumbles its way down to a charming harbour, past whitewash cottages and intriguing alleyways all adding to the timeless atmosphere. Your entrance also includes Clovelly Court Gardens, the Fisherman’s Cottage and Kingsley Museum.
NB: As there is a steep cobbled hill down to the harbour and a steep cobbled hill back up to the visitor centre, there is a Land Rover service to transport passengers (if required) for a small charge on the day.

In the afternoon you will travel to Hartland Abbey, cherished home of the Stucley family and full of treasure and memorabilia. Enjoy the beautiful walled and woodland gardens, the extensive parkland and an included cream tea before returning to the hotel.

• A visit to RHS Garden Rosemoor, nestled in the Torridge Valley blends formal and informal plantings to magical effect. The garden will be busting with spring cheer from cherry trees smothered with blossom and vibrant tulips bursting into bloom. Plenty of time to explore and obtain lunch before visiting Dartington Crystal. The new Visitor Experience houses an updated and upgraded Timeline Exhibition of Dartington Crystal’s products spanning over 50 years of history from 1967 to the present day. As well as being able to see glass making demonstrations in a newly installed studio furnace area, Master engraver Nick Davey will be creating masterpieces right before your eyes.

Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey
