Itinerary
Day 1 Morning departure for the journey to Yorkshire and the hotel in Harrogate for a five night stay.
Day 2 A morning free in Harrogate to explore. In the afternoon you will visit the World of James Herriot in the market town of Thirsk. Walk through his fully restored 1940s home and surgery and travel back in time.
Day 3 Emmerdale Adventure: On todays excursion you will visit Otley, known as ‘Hotton’ in the TV series for some free time before moving to Esholt, where the show was filmed for decades before residents wanted to reclaim their village. Time to have a beverage in the Woolpack, the only ‘soap’ pub where you can get a drink. Then you will embark on the Village Tour in a secret filming location where your favourite soap is brought to life. It is a fabulous experience.
Day 4 Travel to the bustling cobbled market town of Grassington, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and used as the fictional town of TV’s All Creatures Great and Small. Continue by way of Settle and to Ribblehead for a photo stop of the famous Ribblehead Viaduct. Then to Hawes, set 850 feet above sea level and home to Wensleydale Cheese.
Day 5 Morning visit to nearby RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Spanning 58 acres, this beautiful garden has great history, real character and lots to discover. After the visit you can stay in Harrogate for more free time and perhaps visit Betty’s Tearooms or return to the hotel to relax.
Day 6 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
