itineraryItinerary Day 1 Early morning departure for the journey to either Folkestone or Dover for the crossing to Calais. On arrival you will continue the journey through Holland to Nunspeet and the hotel for a four night stay.
Day 2 Today you will travel to Giethoorn, a typically Dutch village in Overijsse, full of lakes, reed beds and forests, and is often referred to as ‘Dutch Venice’ or ‘Venice of the Netherlands’. The picturesque village with its many handsome farms with thatched roofs and characteristic wooden bridges, people built their houses and farms on the islands and access is only by bridge or traditional Giethoorn boats called punters. After some free time and a boat ride you will travel to Zwolle. Zwolle is well-known as a historic hanseatic city with a beautiful medieval centre, with lots of well preserved and archeologically interesting buildings. Walk from the medieval Sassenpoort to De Peperbus, visit De Fundatie museum and other highlights. The star shaped city canal with green parks are very inviting, so maybe go for a walk or take a boat ride.
Day 3 Highlight of the tour – Floriade. Located in Almere, a modern ‘garden city’ near Amsterdam that was built on land reclaimed from the sea. The theme for 2022 is ‘Growing Greener Cities’ – an appropriate motto, given the site will become a new urban district named Hortus after the Floriade finishes in October 2022. The Floriade Park will be a celebration of green and sustainable technology. New technologies for greenery, food, energy and health will be researched and implemented at this living laboratory. You will be touched by what you see, smell and taste. The park consists of permanent elements and expo-specific one. There are four sub-themes, inspiring gardens, workshops and exhibitions will be mixed with impressive attractions, surprising tasting sessions, art and culture. The site will be full of energy and action with over 40 pavilions where countries show their culture, plants and flowers. Naturally, all in wonderful green surroundings. The event covers 60 hectares, offering hop on/hop off e-trains throughout the site for easy navigation. We have included a one way journey on the 850m long cableway travelling high above Floriade, giving you a fantastic view of the whole event. There will also be various cafes and restaurants throughout the location.
Day 4 Today you will visit Zaanse Schans, one of the biggest attractions in the Zaanstreek. A chance to visit the mills and authentic workshops that tell the tale of how the region gained its success. The 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life and you will see houses, windmills, a tin ware factory, a cheese factory and dairy factory and other crafts showing the old Zaan style. Afterwards you will visit Volendam, a famous ancient traditional fishing village on Lake Ijssel.
Day 5 After breakfast, depart the hotel and commence the homeward journey.
